Interior Design Tip: Using Wallpaper as Art

You know that I love art, right?  And while I'm always on the hunt for artists that inspire me, I have also used wallpaper as framed art as well!

We recently finished the project pictured above.  It was a bedroom redesign where we used a wild fabric for the duvet cover (you can see it on the left in the photo).  We knew we wanted a vertical piece of art that was not too strong to complement it, but we also wanted something unique that was an 'original' piece.

Enter Porter Teleo........a fabulous wallpaper company that creates hand painted wallpaper and fabrics.  They have a shopping area, where you can purchase one-offs and remnants of custom painted paper!

We had the piece that we selected custom framed with a gray matte and a brushed silver and lavender frame. Custom framing makes all the difference when showcasing art!

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll see that I have a board called "Wallpaper Favorites" - where I include wallpaper images that I love!  These are some gems that I've saved that I think would look beautiful, framed as a piece of art:

Interior Design: Before & After Bathroom Remodel

My clients have two young daughters and needed this bathroom to more efficient with storage and space. They wanted a timeless design in their 100 year old home that would transition with the girls as they grow from playing in the bathtub as toddlers, to maximizing space needed for makeup, hairdryers, etc as they become teenagers.

Interior Design: A Pretty Place for Reading

In this project, in Orinda, Ca., I was tasked with coming up with a design solution for a landing space at the top of a stairwell. It was a space that was too small for a loveseat and chairs, and too big and open to use as a home office.
