The goal of this design project was to provide a comfortable seating area that complemented the existing art in my clients’ family room. They have kids, dogs and cats — so the furniture needed to be durable, pet friendly as well as beautiful!Read More
Hey you guys! I’m dropping in here to share how you can commission a piece of art from your favorite artist — so that it is made especially for you!!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that every Sunday, I share the work of an artist whom I admire. It’s a fun way for me to make a connection with an artist and it also keeps a catalog of work that I find inspirational!
I recently found Stephanie Henderson, an artist based in Atlanta, GA and posted the above image of her work on my IG. One of my clients saw my post and was absolutely taken with the composition and asked me to contact the artist about a commission! Commissioning an artist is easy — all you have to do is ask! These are the three steps to follow to work with an artist on a commission.
1. Contact the Artist
Contact the artist via email or through social media. I emailed Stephanie and asked what her availability was for a commission — she got right back to me and gave me her timeline.
2. Discuss the details with the Artist
We talked about what size and colors that I wanted to have included, as well as her pricing and preferred method of payment.
3. Ask for a Color Sample
She then sent me a sample of the colors that she had selected, which required our approval. See how amazing the colors look with our fabric selections?
We approved the colors, and within 2 weeks, we received the gorgeous painting.
One final thing — make sure that you have a framer that you trust! Framing is so important, and can really enhance a piece of art! Always look at several frame options before making your final decision.
We hung this gorgeous piece in my clients’ master bath — which is adjacent to the master bedroom where all of those vibrant fabrics that I showed you are located!
Add art to your home and it will bring joy! Contact me if you are interested in my interior design and art curating services!

This past year was such a blessing and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that I had working with amazing clients. And while it was a tremendous year, it did not come easy. Being self employed, means that often I am working 7 days a week, constantly meeting the needs of my clients, while also actively prospecting for new clients and keeping up a social media presence.
Luckily, I LOVE my job, and so it doesn’t feel like work most of the time!Read More
Are you ready for summer? I AM! It feels like Northern California has had an extended cold Spring, but this weekend, it finally hit some hot summer-like temps! Woo hoo!
Summer is all about outdoor entertaining, enjoying the fresh air, being with friends and family. We love to entertain in our back yard (watch for an update soon on my newly upholstered outdoor furniture!) - and there's nothing better than dining al fresco!
Today I'm sharing four foolproof tips for making your outdoor dining experience memorable!
When the sun goes down and you are enjoying the evening, it's great to have a little mood lighting that is not too bright. I love these outdoor lights from Target. They are not a huge investment and will bring just the right amount of ambience to your party!
2. A Beautiful Outdoor Table
Don't skimp on your outdoor furniture. Outdoor furniture needs to stand the test of time and weather, but also should provide the look of another 'room' in your home (albeit outside). Consider your outdoor space as an extension of your interiors. Invest in beautiful pieces! This table from Serena & Lily is stunning. You could even use it indoors! :)
3. Comfortable and Luxurious Seating
Outdoor dining chairs have come a long way in the past few years. This artful and comfortable dining chair can add some texture and visual interest to your outdoor dining area. Make the outdoor dining space unique!
4. Add Pretty Decorative Accessories
Decorative accessories always make a space. Ground your outdoor area with an outdoor rug. An outdoor area rug always amps up the WOW! factor. Add colorful pillows and pretty serving pieces (love these salad tongs by Bridgette Thornton, available at Anthropologie!). Layer in stylish planters and candle holders to enhance your outdoor dining area.
