Design Dilemma: How to Create an Artful Entryway

I believe that the entry into your home should reveal a personal statement about yourself and a glimpse of who you are.

Your front porch, the style and color of your front door, whether you have potted plants, or a pretty doormat, that glimpse of the inside of your home when your door is open -- all of these things give off a vibe of who you are and who lives in the home.

What does your entry say about you?

Here are my tips for designing an artful entry:

A few more tips:

-Hang coats in closets instead of on hooks in your entry.  That way, the space will feel tidy and open.

-If shoes are removed prior to entry, have a pretty basket with a lid close by, so that shoes are tucked away neatly.

-Refrain from 'over decorating' the entry -- make it just a glimpse of who you are -- and save the full story of your home's sensibility and design aesthetic -- to share with those who you've invited all the way in to your home!

Thanks for stopping by!

Interior Design: Before & After Bathroom Remodel

My clients have two young daughters and needed this bathroom to more efficient with storage and space. They wanted a timeless design in their 100 year old home that would transition with the girls as they grow from playing in the bathtub as toddlers, to maximizing space needed for makeup, hairdryers, etc as they become teenagers.

Interior Design: A Pretty Place for Reading

In this project, in Orinda, Ca., I was tasked with coming up with a design solution for a landing space at the top of a stairwell. It was a space that was too small for a loveseat and chairs, and too big and open to use as a home office.
