Simple Ways to Update your Holiday Decorations

November 20, 2016 Leslie Price
Succulent Wreath

Succulent Wreath

Well, the holidays are here! And it's time to start decorating!

When my boys were younger, we used to decorate our tree as a family -- now that one son is in college and the other works full time, I find that my husband and I end up decorating the tree  by ourselves!

I try to keep it fresh by adding something unique to my holiday decor each year, and I thought I'd share a few of the things that I've discovered this season!  Just one little update in your holiday decor can make a difference!

Succulent wreaths are my favorite because you can replant all those pretty little succulents in your garden after the holidays.  This Bay Leaf wreath is actually edible and artful and the same time.  Boxwood wreaths are a classic (this one is faux), and so pretty!

Did you know that Amazon sells wreaths?  There are so many great options for wreaths that can arrive at your doorstep quickly!

A garland is a simple way to jazz up your mantle, your holiday dining table or an entry table -- all of these are sourced from West Elm.  Affordable and pretty!

Is it time to update your tree skirt?  These tree skirts are from One Kings Lane -- and I absolutely am in love with that chartreuse one.  I just ordered it yesterday! :)

I absolutely have to buy at least one new ornament each year, and there are so many adorable choices from Anthropologie and West Elm.  The woodcut ornaments are my new favorites!

One final tip -- do something different with the holiday decorations that you own -- instead of putting a wreath on your door, use it as a centerpiece; or instead of using all of your ornaments on your tree, arrange a few on your coffee table or in your powder room; and finally -- only bring out the decorations that bring you joy!

Interior Design: Before & After Bathroom Remodel

My clients have two young daughters and needed this bathroom to more efficient with storage and space. They wanted a timeless design in their 100 year old home that would transition with the girls as they grow from playing in the bathtub as toddlers, to maximizing space needed for makeup, hairdryers, etc as they become teenagers.

Interior Design: A Pretty Place for Reading

In this project, in Orinda, Ca., I was tasked with coming up with a design solution for a landing space at the top of a stairwell. It was a space that was too small for a loveseat and chairs, and too big and open to use as a home office.
