Interior Design: Before and After Living Room

I always love looking at “Before and After” stories in interior design magazines and on blogs. I hope that you do too! Today I’m sharing a recent project where we transformed a living room in Lafayette, CA. The transformation is full of color and was inspired by a 20 piece art series that my client inherited.

Here’s the before pic:

Before and After Living Room

For a family of 5, the living room served as not only a place to entertain guests, but also a room for the family to lounge and watch TV together. When my client inherited a stunning abstract art series, she wanted a place to display it, and hired us to create a room around it! You know that we love color and comfort — so we were so excited for this project!

At our first meeting, we laid out the art series on the floor to get an idea of scale and color:

We decided to go bold with the fabrics for the furniture and install the art on the back wall. When you enter the room you are now greeted with a ‘wow’ factor!

I love the play of the vibrant blue solid sofas on the neutral abstract patterned rug. And of course, we needed to add in an accent chair that was a work of art in itself.

Adding original art into your decor is a game changer. Original art is unique, and one of a kind. Select art that speaks to you….(you will know when you find it). If you find art that you love….it will be a treasure that you can pass on to your family. Hence, the reason for this new room design!

Interior Design: Before & After Bathroom Remodel

My clients have two young daughters and needed this bathroom to more efficient with storage and space. They wanted a timeless design in their 100 year old home that would transition with the girls as they grow from playing in the bathtub as toddlers, to maximizing space needed for makeup, hairdryers, etc as they become teenagers.

Interior Design: A Pretty Place for Reading

In this project, in Orinda, Ca., I was tasked with coming up with a design solution for a landing space at the top of a stairwell. It was a space that was too small for a loveseat and chairs, and too big and open to use as a home office.
