Anatomy of a staged room

Greetings peoples!

Here's a little dissection of the living room of a house that I staged last week.

I wanted to share this because this is a serendipitous mix of 'high' and 'low' items that came together to help sell this house on the first day it was listed!

The homeowners had moved out and I was left with a blank slate, so close your eyes and imagine an empty room.

Now open them, and looky here:

I'm trying to get fancy with my photography editing, so I've created a little map with numbers that can help explain where I got all this stuff.....

1.  Coffee Table from a local consignment shop (approx. $49)
2. Pillow from Z Gallerie (last year) $69.99, but I sell similar (custom made) in my Etsy Shop (tra la!)
3. Pottery Barn Pillow (on sale for $19.99)
4. Home Goods!  How great is that mirror? It was $59.99!
5. Lamps from a White Elephant Sale!  $17 for the pair! Seriously!
6.  Faux plant from Home Goods!  (Have I mentioned I love that place?)
7. Vintage artwork from the flea market (can't remember the price, sorry!)
8. Rug from none other than Home Goods!  $199!

The sofa and the two club chairs were the homeowner's own.  How lucky was that?

Oh and one final favorite thing was the frog on the coffee table!

Yup, it was from Home Goods! ($7.99)

In case you were wondering...

Remember when I talked about this GORGEOUS FABRIC that I found on Ebay?

It's a vintage Lee Jofa print on linen.  Great colors, super fun and crazy pattern.

I initally thought I'd be using it to reupholster a cool chair or two.......

But instead I made pillows!

A local client of mine snapped them up and added them to her collection of other pillows that she's purchased from me.

Seriously, you gotta love blue and white gingham; a huge Quadrille ikat print and a vintage Lee Jofa all together....

The mix of these pillows is pure.......

Pillow Love!

Creating a vignette on a tray

One of my obsessions  passions, is to constantly switch things around in my house.

I recently picked up an orange lacquered asian tray at the flea market and created a new centerpiece vignette for my dining table.

The dining table used to look like this:

Then I switcher-ooed the light fixture ....

And found that the table needed a bigger centerpiece to balance out the new fixture above.

Eventually, I'll find a rug to place under the table to finish off the space -- but one thing at a time, right?

I'm totally digging the vintage candle holders from Etsy that I blogged about last week.

The rest of the items were just stuff that I had from other parts of the house, and I added the orchids from one of my favorite haunts...Trader Joe's!

In case you're wondering, here's what the rest of the room looks like:

And the flip side of the room:

Featuring Sherman's favorite spot.

It's nap time!

Blue Phase

I'm in a blue phase...but not in a bad's in a good (aka shopping) way!

If you are my husband, you need to avert your gaze from this post..........

Phew! Okay, now that that's settled, here are the 'blues' from dresses to fabrics that have made it to my house in the last month.  (EEEGADS!)

Dresses are from Kate Spade and J.Crew.
The first two fabrics are from Lee Jofa -- watch for them soon in my etsy shop!  The third fabric is actually a curtain from West Elm, that I've reincarnated into two large Euro Shams for my son (Jackie Boy's)  room redo....(better keep checking my blog for the upcoming reveal!)

Blues to you!

Why I love Etsy

Because it's a cool place to shop.  That's why.

And yes, I have my own Etsy shop, but I wanted to give you a little list of the interesting things that I've purchased from this faboo, artisan website.  Seriously, you could spend days and days shopping on Etsy.  So here goes.  This is a list of items I've purchased recently:

These little ditties arrived the other day and I'll be posting a photo of their new home shortly.  I paid $40 and LOVE them!

I love kantha quilts and I'm in the middle of re-doing my son Jackie Boy's room and this quilt started it all (don't worry, there's a whole blog series coming about Jackie Boy's room!)

This little elephant makes me so happy!  He sits on my nightstand!

He's that little dude that the arrow is pointing to.....

And finally, I bought this dress.

The dress is by Devon Baer.  She not only designs the clothing but does most of the modeling for the photos as well.  She is so frickin' cute!

My name is Leslie and I am a shopoholic.

Flea Market Love

Who doesn't love a good flea market find?

If you were on the West Coast yesterday, you might have heard me high-fiving my shopping peeps and screaming a big woot-woot after I found this super cool vintage painting at my local flea market....

If you know me, then you know I grew up in Hawaii and love all things Pacific Rim and eclectic with out being too over-the-top kitchy....

The painting was painted in Hawaii and although it's teeny-tiny, under the artist's name, there's a little '45, which I like to think might be 1945?  How cool is that?

Anywho, in other news, my peeps and I had a wonderful time surfing in Santa Cruz last week.

It made me so happy to be back in the ocean again!

Pure joy!
