Pagoda Love

Found this faboo remnant last week at one of my favorite fabric shops.

I knew it would work on some chairs that I just added to a little seating area off of my kitchen.

See how lonely that chair looks?

Looky now...

and now....

Yup, I like it....

Downton Abbey Chair-Before and After

If you love Downton Abbey (like me) then you will appreciate this blog post.

I had purchased a vintage Chippendale chair recently that I wanted to redo..... and contemplated reupholstering her in a bold, modern print.

(here she is before her facelift)

She had been sitting in my garage studio waiting for me to get inspired.

And one night, I was lying on the couch, swirling my wine glass and watching glorious Shirley MacLaine do her stuff on Downton Abbey.  (Holy cow, she is awesome!)  And lo and behold, I saw this chair behind her in one of her scenes!

I quickly put down my wine glass and grabbed my cell phone to snap a pic!

I decided then and there to go 'solid fabric' on that chair!  But I wanted something luscious, and vintage looking to show off the chair's beautiful design and craftmanship.

So here she is now!

All done up in a magenta velvet......

Seriously, the design of the piece is amazing.  Just look at the wood details!

I'm thinking that this chair would look great in an entry way or in an elegant office.

Another chair!

I'm loving my new cheetah upholstered chair!

Purchased at a consignment store several years ago, the original had ugly gold velvet upholstery.  Ugh-- I don't have an original picture of it -- sorry!

Anywho, a few years back, right when I was first becoming obsessed with upholstering things, I did a quick little fix up with some white duck cloth.  It was partly-slipcovered, and partly- upholstered.

And if you've been reading my blog, you know that I've been busy re-doing my son Petie Pie's room.

I was super excited when I found this fabric for $7.75 per yard by Premier Prints, because I didn't want to make a huge investment.

For the price,  I was really impressed with the durability and strength of the fabric.
I just love a good animal print!

I added a little bling to the front legs.....

The room is only clean right now cuz Petie Pie is back at college. Ha!

It makes me smile every time I walk by!

Cheers!

Beautiful Inspiration - Marion Philpotts-Miller

What a joy it was to see the work of my beautiful friend and interior designer Marion Philpotts-Miller featured in the San Francisco Chronicle today!

This home is located on the island of Lanai.

One look at this picture and I knew she had something to do with it:

She knows how to create a beautiful retreat in a tropical paradise.

Isn't it just divine?

Beautiful Marion is such a talent!

More Sweetness

For all you Manuel Canovas (designer fabric) lovers, here's a another 'before and after'....

And, I'm putting the 'after photo' first, cuz it's so pretty....

This little chair was a sad sad sight when my friend Danielle
(aka awesome stager/owner of Designed to Sell) spotted it at an estate sale.

Danielle keeps an eye out for me when it comes to chairs -- she'll text me when she sees something good.  Thanks Danielle!

She was the one that picked up the infamous 'Gary' chair for me last year:

(that's Gary in the chair)

And I turned it into this:

Anywho, I'm digressing.....

The original chair had a button detail on the arm rest, but I changed it to a pleated edge.

The backside looks pretty sweet as well.....

This chair would look so cute in a girl's bedroom!

Sweet Settee!

  Yippee!

The vintage settee that I've been working on is done!

Here she is!

Here she is before:

The frame was in great condition, but the fabric was soiled and worn, and the down/feather cushion needed a little fluffin'.

And she's for sale in my etsy shop!

Cheers!
