Before and After Vintage Victorian Chairs

Step in to my parlour......

I love a good makeover -- and these little ladies look beautiful after a little primping and some wild new fabric!

My friend 'M' had inherited these chairs and wanted to freshen them up to put in her guest room.

Here they are before:

'M' came to my garage studio and we scoured through my fabric stash until we found the perfect print!

Here they are now!

They are rockin' the cheetah print!

P.S.  Thank you to all of you of entered my little pillow love give-away!  The winner is M.B. and she has been notified.  :)  Smiles!

A Pillow for Peanuts!

I have a pillow give-away today!

And 100% of the proceeds will go to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network.

Woo hoo!

For those of you who know me, you know that my son Petie Pie has life threatening food allergies.  He's allergic to peanuts, milk (dairy), eggs, and shellfish.

My sweet boy is now 20 years old and I'm so proud of him and how he manages his life situation.

Anywho, the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network was a great support to us in his early years, while we tried to navigate this '21st century disability'*.

So, here are the deets on how to enter my giveaway:

Do one of the following:

"Follow me" with Google Friend Connect -- just click on the 'Join This Site' icon on the right side of my blog.

"Subscribe" to my little blog-a-roonie (also noted on the right side of my blog)

Or, if you are already a liker, follower or subscriber, just leave a "comment" in the comment section!

If you are the high-falootin' winner, please select your 'pillow for peanuts' from the following selection from my etsy shop:

This one (and it's one of my faves!)

Or a little Chiang Mai from Schumacher!

I think I'll put all the entries in a big fat pot and let Petie Pie pick the winner for me.

Here's a pic of me and Petie at his high school graduation.

Petie wrote his college essay about his food allergies.  It still makes me cry to read it.

Here it is if you are interested:

Life is precious!  Enjoy!

*I call this a '21st century disability' because it's a disability that affects other people -- not just the disabled person ----- i.e., asking 'other' people to not eat peanuts on airplanes, etc.

Pillow of the Day inspired by Kate Spade

I'm coveting this dress by Kate Spade:

I'm koo-koo for color blocking!

Loving this pillow in the same genre:

Which of course reminds me of the Partridge Family Bus:

Makes me smile!

My gal pal Marianne needs a little lead time -- so make sure you tell your special someone that you want one of these in plenty of time for Valentine's Day!

Super affordable and so darn cute!

Quadrille Look-alike!

I'm smitten with this fabric from Quadrille (Alan Campbell, Petite Zig Zag)..

So chic on a sofa....

But with a triple digit price tag, it's hard to pull the trigger.

Found this little ditty at Premier Prints for $12.99 per yard.

I think it's a pretty good alternative!

This is what happens when you play at my house

Right before Christmas one of my friends popped by and started perusing my fabric stash.....

A light bulb went off when she saw some of my orange and blue fabric and asked me to make some pillows as a Christmas gift for her daughter who is in medical school in Chicago.

And voila!

The floral is from GP&J Baker and I backed it in a lovely pale blue linen.
The orange velvet is from one of my favorite vendors in San Francisco.

She was one happy girl on Christmas Day!

Killin' it with Kilim!

Yes!  So psyched!  I won the ebay auction on this faboo turkish kilim rug!

The plan is to make a long lumbar pillow using this insert from Pottery Barn:

This lumbar size is great across a queen size bed!

It will lay on top of this bedding from Ikea:

Contemplating these little color schemes for the room from Benjamin Moore's Affinity Collection:

And then making a crisp WHITE headboard, using this tutorial from

This is all for Petie Pie's room.  Poor guy, every time he leaves to go back to college, I re-do his room!

Here's how it looked when he left in September 2011:

Here's how it looked when he came home Summer 2012:

Can't wait to start round 3!

To do....in 2013

I'm not much of a New Year's Resolution type o' gal, because by February I've usually forgotten what I had resolved to do!

But I'm a list maker!  And I love crossing things off my lists!  It makes me feel like I've accomplished something!

So here's my list for 2013:

1. Finish this light fixture project that seems to call for 10 bazillion folded origami papers.

I'm using the tutorial from the 3R's Blog:

2. Attempt to make a humongous (aka extra-large) lumbar pillow for my son Petie Pie's queen bed, out of this Kilim Rug that I'm currently bidding on via ebay.  (Don't outbid me please!!!)

I'm not in a super big rush to get this done until February, because guess who is home from college until January 23rd?

Petie Pie!
I've learned to just shut the door when I walk past!

3.  Finish reupholstering this settee that I bought last January!

4.  Refinish and reupholster this little chair and put it in my etsy shop:

I'm thinking maybe a zebra print, but I'm still deciding.....

5. Finish the photography class that I started from Shoot Fly Shoot.

Yup, that means no more iphone photos my friends :)

6. Wag more.  Bark Less.  Sherman told me that.  :)

7.  Stop eating Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips with my nightly glass of wine at 6 p.m.

No, scratch that.  Tra la!

8.  Try and wear more normal clothes at least once a week instead of my sweats.
Does lululemon count as normal daytime clothing?

9.  Reorganize the house with some furniture that I'm inheriting and sell some of my current furniture on Saraslist.com.

10.  Be thankful every day!

Here's to 2013!
