Outdoor Pillows for Fall

Happy Fall everyone!

Eeeegads, it doesn't really feel like Fall, because it was 100 degrees outside today!
But, anywho, Happy Fall!

One of my clients sent me this cute photo of some outdoor pillows that I made for her.
She's gussied up her front porch with Autumn cheer!

Setting the table

Okay no.

I'm not gonna talk about how to set a lovely table and host a faboo dinner party.

I'm talking about getting utensils on your wrist.

Yup, that's right, some fork and knife action as bling.

Check this out:

How cute is that?

Love this little shop on Etsy.

This gal sells unusual jewelry at GREAT prices.  I've purchased quite a few gifts like these:

(Note:  These are great gifts to give to your sons' girlfriends -- it says, "hey, I'm acknowledging that you are dating my son, and I'm giving you this cool gift but I'm not making a huge monetary investment cuz I'm not sure how long you're gonna last!")

Tee hee!

But then, for myself, I've purchased these little lovelies,

They are super cute and not too dangly for my middle aged earlobes.

Lighting Love

Check out this drum shade that is on Etsy!

Made by Zipper8 Lighting, it's constructed of hundreds of folded origami papers, and then formed on a shade from Ikea!

TRUE Love!

Yes, it's TRUE!

It's LOVE!

True & Co. has nailed the whole bra-trying-on-thing-at-home and it's awesome!

Remember when I blogged about the joy (not) of  bra shopping?

I received 5 bras, based on the questions that I answered online.

And, I found a winner!

True & Co. is the bomb-diggity!
I will never, ever go back to exposing myself (in all my glory) at a 'fitting' in a department store!

And yes, this has nothing to do with my usual pillow making, upholstery doing, home organizing and blogging thingy that I do.

I just want to shout on a rooftop!

I don't have to get naked in a department store and show my whoosy-whats-its to anyone, anymore!

But seriously, if you want a pleasant experience, trying on prospective bras in the privacy of your own home, with no money out of your pocket up front, with free shipping then.....

Organizational Therapy, Ebay and DIY

For some reason organizing and doing things around the house makes me feel less stressed.
Don't ask me why, it's just the way I am.

I had a busy weekend.

My linen closet was becoming one of those closets that you have to lean on and shove closed.'s like I just got a massage.  I feel so much better now!

I got so inspired, I cleaned out my closet and put a huge amount of my J.Crew clothing on Ebay
(and yes, my name is Leslie, and I am a shopoholic......)

Here's one little ditty I'm parting with:

Oh and then I got busy making a pelmet for my old window treatment in my bedroom.

Definition from Merriam-Webster
Pelmet: a short valance or small cornice for concealing curtain features.
(my definition:  rhymes with helmet and covers your old, tired window coverings)

The tutorial for the pelmet came from Little Green Notebook, and I used some beautiful linen and made some welting cord with brown fabric.

After all this, I feel like I had therapy!

A Gorgeous Remodel - The unveiling!

Barbara's house is done, and it is nothing short of spectacular!

I'm going to give you a little tour of the entry and the living room today!

Come on in!

I stopped in my tracks when I was walking in the front door -- this sweet welcoming entry had me at hello!

The table, mirror, lamp and artichoke votives were all found from a local consignment store!  Barbara is one of those people that always finds the great stuff!  Notice the baseboards and the darker paint color -- faboo!  (I have thing for's one of the first things I notice in a house!)

The light fixture is swoon worthy -- it's from West Elm -- and unfortunately for me, no longer available, as I went right home and tried to find it online!

Here's a before view of the entry from the inside:

Here's the same view now:

Yup, I know you want to see more:

Pops of turquoise
 The cheetah rug
 Mirror top side table
The wonderful shape of the coffee table
Vintage bottles and decorative boxes adorn the tables and shelves
Modern Lamps
White chairs (yup, I reupholstered those for her, click here to see what they looked like before)
Black and white ticking sofa
The formerly wood paneled ceiling now painted white
Windows trimmed in black!  So pretty!

Sweet little vignette in the corner of the room.

The display cabinet (and yes, she also purchased that at a consignment store!) is chock-a-block full of some items from her asian accessory collection....

along with some whimsical pottery....

Foo Dogs and more treasures from the flea market stand at attention at the picture window:

Love love love the vintage asian birdcage (another flea market find!)

Next week I'll show you the kitchen and dining room!

(for more info about Barbara, click here)

Stay tuned!

What I would do with that chair!

Found this chair on Saraslist today and I'm in love!

It's from a designer showroom in San Francisco and originally cost $3100! It's now selling for almost half that!

Being the lover of animal prints that I am, I wouldn't dare recover this little beauty -- instead I'd design a room around it!

Like this totally cool office:

Or an elegant foyer:

I'd even be tempted to take up piano!

Saraslist was created for the buyers and sellers of quality, pre-owned furniture who are looking for a better classified experience.

Check it out!

Bra Love -- seriously

Okay, so this is TOTALLY off topic -- but I can't help myself.

A while back I read about a company called True & Co. that sells bras on the internet -- they figure out your size and your needs using a series of questions, not actual measurements.

Hmmmm.....buying a bra, that actually fits, off the internet seems so much more appealing than going to Nordstrom, standing naked in a dressing room with a darling 20-something measuring your goods, while you apologize profusely for the sagging, scary, dingle dangles that are on your chest, while promising her that 'having kids is totally worth it'.

Here's the first question that you have to answer:

Darn it, I wish I could hide my answer, but now that I've created a True & Co. profile, you know my secret!

Anywho, for only $45, and it's totally refundable (with free shipping) you get 5 bras to try on.

Don't worry, I won't show you when I get them.
I'll just let you know if it actually works!

P.S. THANK YOU to everyone who entered into my Pillow Love give away!
The winner is Brenda W.B.!

Drapery Love

My sweet friend Finola wants me to make her some drapery panels or help her find some to purchase for her living room.

She wants green trellis or fretwork fabric......I've been on the hunt for the most economical, yet, upscale looking way to help her out.

Something like this from Z Gallerie would be perfect!  But alas, they are no longer available!  Darn, darn, darn, -- they were such a good price too!  Only $59.95 per panel!

Here's another affordable idea.  Love this little tutorial from the The Sweetest Digs for stenciling drapery from Ikea with Cutting Edge Stencils.  With some green paint, this could be done for about $40!

These come in green from Design Pretty.  The price is higher.  $295 per panel.

Of course, the most perfect fabric would be Imperial Trellis from Schumacher.  But that would be sooper dooper expensive at over $150 a yard.

Here's a cheaper less expensive option from Duralee at $40 per yard:

Cute fabric from Ebay at $19.99 per yard:

Aha!  Check out this Schumacher look-a-like from Spoonflower!
At $18 a yard, this just might be the answer!
