Painterly Pillow Project

Back in February when I went to our local antiques faire, my friend picked up these lovely hand painted cloths (aka drop cloths).

Seriously, these are painted on drop cloths.

She asked me to make pillows out of them for her.
First I had to 'square' them, as they were originally more of an off shape.  Then I overlocked the edges to finish them.  As you can see above, there are little thread 'tails' from the overlocking on each corner.

She picked out some trim she liked, along with some silk for the back of the pillow that she found on triple mark-down, end of bolt goodness at Calico Corners
(Some gals have all the luck!!!)

I stitched the trim on first, and holy cow, it looked so, so good!

Then the lovely silk on the back side.

And voila!

How great are these?!!!
So, if you are an artist, just paint yourself some pillows!

Lamp Love

I'm on a mission for new lamps for my bedroom.

Love this one by Robert Abbey

Or this one from Circa Lighting

But the price tags are steep!  And I want two lamps!

So then I had an idea.
What do you think of this lamp?

It's from JC Penney!
And it's only $75.00!

I could dress it up with a new finial on top:

Love the organic stones:

Finials are like jewelry for lamps!

X Bench Love!

I'm so excited!
I snapped up this little x-bench from Target today!

A score for $54.99!

I'm planning on recovering it in some awesome fabric that will go with my new bedroom!

More details are to come about the master bedroom re-do,
but the bench is gonna peak out from under a console/desk on the left side of the bed.

I just love a good deal!

P.S. Happy Birthday to my dear friend Hutchy who faithfully reads my blog every day from Hawaii and sends me kind emails of encouragement!

Quadrille makes me smile

Love love love Quadrille fabrics.
 I'm officially obsessed.

I was so excited to get these sweet pillows into my etsy shop for all to see.

And they were quickly swooped up by one of my friends!
(Have I mentioned how much I love my friends?)

Look how cute this fabric is as a window treatment:

And, look at this dress!

Simply outrageous!

Bedroom re-do

I recently began to loathe my bedroom.  And I want to make a change.

I've hired my friend Kelly Scanlon, who I met while sweating at our local boot camp class (and who I've blogged about before, here, and here).  We realized we had a lot in common with a mutual love for design (her business, my fantasy) and beautiful fabrics.

I'm excited to be able to show you as we put this new room together in the next few months.

Here's the room as it is now:

The view of the big wall on the right:
(BTW, I painted that big ol' piece of art using Cutting Edge Stencils)

The room really bugs me.  That corner to the right of the bed is blank and boring.
The chairs are squished to the wall and the only thing that sits on them is clean laundry waiting to be folded.

After taking careful measurements of my room, Kelly provided me with a new room plan.

I love her idea to move the bed to the wall where that big ol' piece of art is currently hanging, and dump the two chairs (aka move them to another room in the house) and get a comfy chaise where I can read, snooze and escape from all the men in my house when I need to.

We had a fun meeting to review her fabric ideas:

And we are off and running!
